Takapuna has our big Kahuna

Takapuna has our big Kahuna

With the sudden resignation of NPDC top boss Roger Kerr-Newell. Mayor Pete's tight five are becomming a very temporary loose four... with the added defeat from new councillors on standing orders last week. Will this mean Roger Kerr- Newell will be relinquishing his positions as Chief Executive of Taranaki Investment Managers Ltd (TIML) and Trustee of the Len Lye Foundation as well. I wish Roger well sailing the complex winds of the Hauraki Gulf. and congratulate him on becomming elected to the Board of Yachting New Zealand and his new position as CEO of the Rodney District Council. Merry Xmas to us all.

Who's the Boss

Who's the Boss.

Who the real Boss. There seems to be some debate in the community about who is really in charge at the NPDC the Mayor Peter Tennent or the CEO Roger Kerr-Newell. By rights the Mayor Peter Tennent and his councilors are the ones in charge. Roger Kerr-Newell just the hired help. But out here in the real world we all know the one that makes the big bucks, is the real one that calls the shots. The Mayor Peter Tennent is paid $94,412 compared to the CEO Roger Kerr-Newells $305.701 reported by the TDN. So if anyone is in any doubt this should leave them in no doubt who's the real boss of the NPDC. And as the New Plymouth ratepayers suggest the NPDC CEO's pay packet is a little over the top, they need to know also that the CEO's partner is also employed by the NPDC in a managerial position. First with the acclaimed Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and now with our acclaimed Puke Ariki. The same Puke Ariki and management that I am in dispute with over my art exhibit “Hands On” that was taken down so abruptly resently. Not that I am suggesting anything unto wards or pointing a finger, its just that the New Plymouth ratepayers have right to know they pay a lot more towards the Kerr-Newell's than just the reported $305.701 the CEO Roger Kerr-Newell takes home.
